Itinerary:

We departed the BP at Proserpine at 8:30am and headed south towards Mackay. After a very short stop over in Mackay to get more beer (very important) we continued on South until we reached Ilbilbie where we turned off the main road to the left and headed out towards the coast.

Not long after heading down this road we took at right and headed down Notch Point Road. We passed the prawn farms and  shortly arrived at the entrance gate. As always we made sure that we closed the gate behind us as we traveled onto the private property section of the road.

All being first timers to Notch Point we were surprised at how large the camping grounds were! The southern side was quite busy, especially around the boat ramp so we headed to the northern side where there was only one other camp set up. The only draw back here is the wind, but you also have to battle the midgies on the Southern side so either has its advantages/disadvantages.

We chose the Northern side and set up camp and settled in, however it was not long before we were up and back in the cars to explore some of the surrounding tracks and mud puddles. James even had to get the winch out at one point as the boys made a quick recovery.

Once back at camp we cooked dinner and settled around the camp fire to share stories of our previous experience and trips.

As always, the trip was too short, but it gave us a good chance to learn more about this beautiful spot and hopefully return again one day.
